Why just one or occasionally two selections each week?We are a small boutique business. To offer excellent dishes at a reasonable price, this is how we are doing things. And think of it this way – how much time have you spent comparing items on a menu? How many decisions do you make in a typical day? One of our customers told us that having fewer options (pick up or delivery? This dish or that one?) came as an unexpected relief. Most were delightfully surprised by a dish they would not have typically chosen. Sometimes, freedom from choice is a good thing.

What if I’m not vegan or vegetarian, or someone eating with me is not?So far, a strong majority of our customers are omnivores. Most have expressed pleasant surprise at how much they enjoyed dishes they would not normally think to order, such as Baby Bok Choy Comfort Soup. Prior to establishing this business, Heather served her lasagna to her family (less than 10% vegetarian and no other vegans) at her mother’s Celebration of Life reception -- without telling anybody it was plant-based. Nearly everyone assumed it had meat and loved it. A dirty trick, we know. But it worked.

How do I pay?… through this portal, or via Venmo by Monday noon prior to delivery.
-
If you receive more orders than you can fill, how do you determine which ones to fill?First-come, first-serve – based on payments for orders. Order (and pay) by Saturday if you want to be prioritized. If we cannot fill your order for a particular week, you may choose between a credit for a future order or a refund.
-
How will I know the ETA for my order? On Tuesday evening, you will receive an email with The Joyful Vegan’s ETA. You might want to plan to reheat and enjoy our meals on Thursday evening and/or the weekend. However, many of our customers have planned to eat dinner after The Joyful Vegan’s ETA (plus reheating time).
-
What if I’m not home or don’t answer the doorbell for some reason? We strongly recommend you place a cooler at your entry for our delivery. If there is no answer at the door and no cooler, the meal will be left at your doorstep.
-
May I pick up meals rather than have them delivered? At this time, no.
-
Do you offer a discount for referrals?Yes. When someone tells us they were referred by you, you will receive a 10% discount on any order when they order $30 or more, and you’ll receive another 10% (20% total) when they have made orders totaling $100 or more.
-
May I use the referral discount on top of other discounts? (10% for food orders of $100+ or 20% for food orders of $150+)Yes! If you wait until your referral makes orders totaling $100 or more, you would receive a 40% total discount when you place an order for $150+, or 30% discount for your order of $100-$149.
-
Why in the world would I not want to order for several weeks at a time while making referrals? That’s an excellent question. Why, indeed? Share the good news and enjoy delicious, healthy, plant-based meals that you would be proud to serve to others – at a ridiculous discount. Take advantage of this generous offer before we realize it’s too much and scale it back a bit.
-
Do you offer gluten-free options?Yes. Most of our dishes are already gluten-free. For those with gluten (lasagna, enchiladas etc), we offer a gluten-free option at no additional charge.
-
How do I return the mason jars and get a credit?Leave them in your cooler prior to delivery. We will send you a coupon code for $2/jar for future orders. We also welcome returns of the plastic deli containers. We’ve found to our surprise that these hold up well when washed and sanitized.
-
Can you re-use the plastic deli containers?Yes, we have selected sturdy containers. If you wish, please do return them to us if you are not using them yourselves. We wash and sanitize reused containers with proper equipment in a commercial kitchen. If they are not good as new, we discard them.
